There has been a murder. Several of your kind have been eliminated by an unknown party and left to be discovered by humans. This could potentially risk the exposing of your kind to the mundane world, something that is forbidden by The Masquerade.
Between yourself and two of your associates, you will cover up the murders, misdirect the humans who are investigating it, and seek out whoever committed the crime to bring them to justice. You have great powers at your disposal, but beware your hunger doesn’t overcome your logic. If you expose your true nature, your end is all but assured.
Return to the World of Darkness
This is Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, a narrative RPG created by Big Bad Wolf Studio and published by Nacon. In it, your mission is to keep the vampire world concealed from the likes of humans and hunt down whoever committed this crime against you.
As part of the World of Darkness franchise, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is built on the fifth edition of the tabletop roleplaying game Vampire: The Masquerade. Mechanics from the tabletop RPG are present and will be familiar for anyone who has played it, but the game really focuses on player choice and active role-playing, so it is accessible to everyone.
A Tale of Three Vampires
Throughout Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, you will play as three different vampires, all with unique powers and abilities. As Galeb, you will infiltrate the human investigators and prevent anyone too close to the truth from getting the secret of the vampire underworld out, using either subterfuge or force.
As Leysha, you will assume the identities of whoever can get you close to the crime scene to remove and plant evidence to create misdirection.
And finally, as Emem, you will use your popularity and connections to uncover the source of the attack. Your quest will take you all the way to the top of the vampire hierarchy, revealing horrible truths along the way.
Each vampire has its own skill tree, with many upgradeable abilities that will define your personal playstyle. Whether you choose to accomplish your goals through intimidation, seduction, or destruction, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will let you do it.
Maintain Your Thirst
The core of the gameplay in Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong will be the decisions you make in your many interactions. Characters will remember the things you say and do, so you’ll need to keep track of those many threads to avoid suspicion.
Regardless of the character you play, you’ll need to keep your vampiric hunger under control, lest you become a beast. Careless feeding in the presence of humans will break The Masquerade, a crime for which there is no trial. Choose carefully when to quench your thirst, and carefully dispose of the husks left behind.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong looks to be a roleplaying game with Telltale-style conversations that will form the outcome of individual interactions as well as the larger story.
It will unleash its bloodlust on Nintendo Switch, Xbox consoles, PlayStation 4 and 5, and PC on May 19th, 2022. Prepare, the night is coming.
