Ubisoft Jumps on NFT bandwagon

Ubisoft announces NFTs then quickly delists the video

Ubisoft Quartz was recently announced in a YouTube trailer and the response hasn’t been what the company was hoping for.

The newly announced Ubisoft Quartz platform should be a way for Ubisoft to bring NFTs into their games.  The Ubisoft NFTs are  called “Digits” and were first introduced in the PC version of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. This allows players to collect Digits in the form of in-game vehicles, weapons and equipment.

In the video, it highlights that the special cosmetics would come with a unique serial number which gives the item its value. The Digits can be sold and purchased through the Ubisoft Quartz application.

Gamers clearly did not approve of this idea. The plan was quickly hit with overwhelming backlash and the video received a dislike ratio of over 90%. It’s been so negative that Ubisoft has delisted the video on YouTube. The announcement trailer can still be watched by anyone with a direct link.
