Former PlayStation developers have announced the formation of a new development studio and the release of their first game. The new studio is called Liithos, and its first game is an NFT project called Ashfall.
Ashfall is billed as “the first true Web 3.0 AAA titles for PC, console, and the Hedera network,” which employs the HBAR cryptocurrency. There is currently little information available about the game, but we do know that it is an open-world game set in a world devastated by climate change. It’s a single-player narrative game, but it also includes PvP and PvE as it progresses.
The new studio, Liithos, was announced by Michael Mumbauer and John Garvin and described as being a “AAA Gaming and Entertainment Studio”. While it’s clear the co-founders want to make more than just video games, its still uncertain what direction the studio will move in. Garvin and Mumbauer previously worked at PlayStation to develop major titles such as Days Gone, The Last of Us and Uncharted.
