Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 vs Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 vs Galaxy Watch 4 Classic: Which one should you go for?

If you’re purchasing a new Galaxy smartwatch, you should consider which version is best for you. So, it would be better if you knew more about the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic before making a buying decision.

These two smartwatches are the successors of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 and Galaxy Watch 3. The essential Galaxy Watch 4 removes the ‘Active’ brand while preserving a sleek, sporty appearance. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, with leather straps and a revolving bezel, tries hard to be a classic.

On the inside, though, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are similar. The same software experience is provided by the new Wear OS software and Samsung’s One UI, the 3-in-1 health sensor, and a wide choice of watch faces. Instead, the distinctions are based on the exterior and the price.

So, without further ado, let’s begin comparing the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 & the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic

Price and Availability

On August 27, both the essential Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic will be available. If you order between August 11 and August 26, you’ll receive a $50 Samsung Store Credit.

The ordinary Galaxy Watch 4 costs $249.99 for the 40mm Bluetooth version and $299.99 for the 40mm LTE version. The 44mm variant has a Bluetooth price of $279.99 and an LTE price of $329.99.

The 42 mm Bluetooth model of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic costs $349.99, while the 42 mm LTE model costs $ 399.99. The 46mm model costs $379.99 for Bluetooth and $429.99 for LTE.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic bezels have been modified to create a seamless transition from the wristwatch chassis to the straps. Instead of a protruding round crown, these watches have uniform crown buttons that are oblong.

The Galaxy Watch 4 also pays respect to previous Galaxy Watch models. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic features a spinning bezel, a helpful navigation tool, and a great fidget spinner. Since the original Samsung Galaxy Watch launched with the bezel, it has become the device’s most recognizable design aspect. This smartwatch version is more potent in fashion than many other popular wearable devices on the market.

The materials used in the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are more sophisticated, such as stainless steel and leather straps. Consider it similar to the Apple Watch’s “Edition” series. Only the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is far less expensive than the Apple Watch Edition versions, often composed of high-end materials such as ceramic and titanium. Despite costing $100 more than the regular Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, it starts at a lower price than the entry-level Apple Watch 6.

The regular Galaxy Watch 4 uses a capacitive bezel and a lightweight aluminium body for a more modest look. The accompanying silicone bands give this version of the smartwatch a more athletic appearance and feel. The Galaxy Watch 4 is also more comfortable to wear than the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.

The features of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic are identical. Regardless of the smartwatch you wear, you will get the same user experience.

Still, let’s take a look at what’s new in the Galaxy Watch 4 series. Tizen, in particular, has been incorporated into a unified Google Wear operating system known as Wear OS 3. Swiping your finger over tiles navigates you to the home screen and your favourite apps, while a cloud menu has the most extensive assortment of programs. Samsung’s applications, such as Samsung Pay and Samsung Health, continue to take primacy, but the wristwatch also includes Google’s apps.

Samsung’s One UI Watch mask, which complements Wear OS, better links the Galaxy Watch 4 with the rest of the Samsung smartphone ecosystem, automatically connecting a Galaxy smartphone to a Galaxy wristwatch and vice versa. One UI Watch also has many watch-faces with bubble numbers, animal animations, and colour-coordinated complexities similar to Android 12.

Finally, let’s discuss battery life. According to Samsung, both smartwatches will last up to 40 hours on a single charge. However, with GPS, activity tracking, and an always-on display, it may be less.

We have yet to comprehensively evaluate the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series before recommending if it is a decent buy compared to other smartwatches on the market. However, the choice between the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic lies in price and aesthetics.

The regular Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is the flexible Android smartwatch, with a starting price of $249.99. Most buyers should think about it. It’s not as flamboyant as the Classic edition, but it’s functional for the gym while also fashionable enough for everyday wear.

However, if you enjoy the design of the bezel and prefer a smartwatch that appears more like a conventional watch, the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is the device for you. Even if you pay an extra $100 for flashier wrist bling, it’s still less expensive than the Apple Watch.
