Razer Viper Mini – Gamers Review

Aj128

With a price of about half that of the original Viper, you’d expect about half the features, but that’s far from the case.

Razer is one of the most popular brands when it comes to gaming PC components and computers. And while they innovate a lot in the market, when they find something that works, they do like to stick to it.

That is the case with this Razer Viper Mini, which is nearly identical to previous Vipers. But some clear differences stick out, so let’s talk about this nice little gaming mouse. With a price of about half that of the original Viper, you’d expect about half the features, but that’s far from the case.

Let’s check out some features! Despite the incredible price point I’m surprised to see RAZER have kept optical switches in the Mini, this is excellent as optical switches are faster at sending input signals whilst having no delay. Mechanical switches send signals via metal contacts whereas optical switches have no physical contact, instead there is an infrared light beam that is cut when the button is pressed, which makes the response instantaneous. RAZER state these have a response of 0.2ms, 3 times faster than traditional mechanical switches and in use they certainly do not disappoint. No matter what I tested them with, general use or hardcore game sessions I never felt like my commands were being bottlenecked at all. These feel identical to the other Viper switches but these have less lifespan at 50m clicks instead of 70m.

Thin and compact, this mouse is not only excellent for when you’re on a more limited budget, but also for people with smaller hands. And even with how light it is, the build quality is incredible too, top of the line. The Razer Chroma RRB and the six programmable buttons are great for customising your mouse however you want it to be.

Gaming on the Viper Mini did not disappoint at all. Of course, I mainly played Modern Warfare as it requires accuracy and speed. I quickly forgot that I was even using a budget mouse as it did everything that I wanted it to, every movement, every click was precise and accurate. The super lightweight design and speedflex cable makes this a very nice mouse to use and honestly, I think the Viper’s design may be my favourite mouse shape I’ve ever used and the mini is the icing on the cake.

Overall this is an incredible buy, one of the best mice you can buy for that price. Especially if you want to get into the Razer aesthetic without spending much.  I am blown away by the Viper Mini by RAZER. They’ve done an absolutely cracking job of making a top performing budget mouse without making huge sacrifices to build quality, feel or usability, whilst making it affordable to almost everyone.
