Blizzard has confirmed that Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4 have been delayed out of the originally announced 2022 release schedule. The company didn’t set a firm release date for the two games but Activision Blizzard has announced that both games have now been delayed.
This was revealed during the quarterly earnings call (https://investor.activision.com/static-files/d2672611-fbed-4ad8-8b4c-4d529d4d2668) today. The report states that “it has become apparent that some of the Blizzard content planned for next year will benefit from more development time”. While the Diablo 4 delay isn’t too surprising, it was thought that Overwatch 2 was in the final stages of production.
There is no word yet about a potential release date or period for either game. Considering how close to completion Overwatch 2 was reported to be, an early 2023 date seems likely. Diablo 4 however is still in early development.
