Developer Firaxis has released an extended gameplay trailer for their upcoming Marvel game. Midnight Suns. The game was finally announced at Gamescom 2021 with a cinematic trailer so this is the first look at the gameplay.
The combat in the game takes a power fantasy approach and there are ability cards dealt each turn for you to use. These ability cards can be combined with battlefield advantages, tactical positioning and team-ups to deal heavy damage or to get the advantage.
When going into battle, you can choose up to three Marvel characters to join The Hunter to fight enemies. According to Firaxis, the game is “much, much faster” than XCOM games.Outside of battles the player can explore the base as The Hunter and build relationships with other heroes on the team. It was also announced that there will be no loot boxes in the game and microtransactions will only be for cosmetics.
