Mafia Prequel is in Development

The Mafia Prequel is in Early Development at Hangar 13

According to a new report, a new Mafia game is currently in early development at Hangar 13. This comes on the heels of the announcement that Haden Blackman, the studio’s head, was leaving the company. According to a new report from Kotaku, despite the change in leadership, a new game is in the works.

The new Mafia game, according to the latest reports, will be a prequel to the existing trilogy. It’s being created in Unreal Engine 5 rather than the Mafia III engine, which was also used for the originals’ remastered versions. There’s very little information about the new Mafia game available at the moment. Official announcements and leaks will be coming as Hanger 13 works on the game.

The Hangar 13 studios have had a difficult few years. Following the release of Mafia III in 2016, there were two rounds of layoffs, and several new IPs have been quietly cancelled since then. It is unclear when 2K Games and Hangar 13 will reveal the new Mafia game. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about it in the coming years.
