Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD Nintendo Switch Review. The most unique Zelda title is getting a second chance with the 2021 release of the Skyward Sword HD on Nintendo Switch.

2021 marks the 35th anniversary of one of the most legendary and biggest names in the gaming industry. Zelda titles have always been a landmark when it comes to adventure games and incredible experiences. One of the most overlooked titles in the franchise, and also one of the least popular ones finally got a second chance. The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is the new version of a key game for the series.

It’s now available for a whole new audience since the game came out 10 years ago. But did they change enough of the game to make it worth buying again if you already played the original one? Well, that’s one of the things we’ll briefly talk about here.

Why Skyward Sword?

It’s clearly an interesting choice, especially since it’s one of the most overlooked games in the series. For this to be pretty much the main event for the 35th anniversary of the series is strange. But perhaps its lack of popularity is actually the reason why they chose this one and not one of the bigger ones like The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time once again.

Perhaps one of the biggest reasons they chose Skyward Sword is what we saw in the latest trailer for the sequel of Breath of The Wild. These two games seem to share a connection that’s still unknown. There’s also that Skyward Sword is chronologically the first game in the entire The Legend of Zelda universe.

Worthy upgrade?

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword is one of the most unique titles in the series. It arrived at a strange time for Nintendo. The Nintendo Wii was never particularly ahead of its time in graphics nor technology. Aside from motion controls that is, of course, but staying behind in the HD graphics was a big problem.

In 2011, the Wii console generation was doing its last round and getting ready for the next-gen consoles. Both The Xbox 360 and the PS3 always had HD graphics, but the Wii was always behind. Skyward Sword was pretty much Nintendo’s last push at modern gaming, with top-of-the-line visuals for the Wii, and complex mechanics. But it didn’t turn out well for the game, the performance was terrible and the visuals lacked good enough quality to really compete.

This time, they upgraded the controllers to make them compatible with a non-movement-based control. As well as updating it to the modern Joy-Cons instead of the now nearly archaic Wii remote. The performance is finally up to great standard with solid 60FPS, and now it’s finally in true HD, it looks gorgeous and plays great.

But, is it really enough to stay up to current game standards? Now that we have all the incredible visuals and amazing game experiences. Sure, Nintendo is not looking to compete for the best visuals with this remaster, and they are opting to go for an incredible experience.

Whether you like The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD or not, one thing’s for sure. This is the first time, at least officially, that this game is really enjoyable. This is the real first chance players will get to play this game as it was always meant to be played.

Overall, it looks like a really enjoyable experience, and for fans finally becomes a worthy edition to the Zelda saga.
