Introducing Radeon RX 6600 XT

More power than RX 5700 XT and RTX 3060 for $379

AMD expands RDNA-2 portfolio: The Radeon RX 6600 XT will be the new entry-level solution and, according to AMD, will offer more speed than the Radeon RX 5700 XT and GeForce RTX 3060 in raster titles for a price of 379 US Dollars. To implement the 8GB graphics card, AMD has released a new GPU with Navi 23.

AMD targets the Radeon RX 6600 XT to play AAA games in Full HD at 60 FPS or higher with full graphic detail. E-sports and casual games are also the target groups for the latest RDNA-2 graphics card, while higher resolutions like WQHD should work well but are more the territory of the faster branches.

More FPS than the RX 5700 XT and RTX 3060, says AMD

AMD has created its Radeon RX 6600 XT benchmarks, whose testing embargo is still to come. Depending on the game, the graphics card should deliver 2.2x to 2.5x faster than the GeForce GTX 1060, 1.4x to 1.7x faster than the Radeon RX 5600 XT, and an average of about 15% more quickly than the GeForce RTX 3060.

Suppose these ratios are projected onto the graphics card benchmarks on ComputerBase. In that case, performance comparisons with Nvidia graphics cards indicate performance between the GeForce RTX 2070 Super and GeForce RTX 2080 Super, and AMD’s comparison with the Radeon RX 5600 XT even indicates 2080 super level performance: the editors consider this a bit too optimistic.

AMD has a recommended retail price of $379 (before taxes) for the Radeon RX 6600 XT. There is no official EIA for Germany yet. However, it should be €379, precisely €100 less than the Radeon RX 6700 XT. The Radeon RX 5700 XT cost €419 in summer 2019, the GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB costs €50 less. In any case, the EIA will not play a role in retail; the market price will be significantly higher.

From August 11, the graphics card will be officially available from ASRock, Asus, Biostar, Gigabyte, MSI, PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX. OEM systems have been announced by Acer, Alienware, Dell, HP, and Omen.

Radeon RX 6600 XT is based with RDNA 2 on the same architecture as Radeon RX 6900 XT, Radeon RX 6800 XT, Radeon RX 6800, and Radeon RX 6700 XT, only the number of execution units and memory volume are smaller, the technology is the same. After Navi 21 (RX 6800/6900) and Navi 22 (RX 6700 XT), the Radeon RX 6600 XT with Navi 23 is the third GPU in the RDNA-2 portfolio, which until now has only been available as Radeon RX 6600M with less active shaders in the notebook.
