How To: INSTALL & UPGRADE CPU – Ryzen 5000 on B450 motherboard


With the launch of Ryzen 5000 Zen 3 CPU’s, many of us want to upgrade from Zen 2 processors. Luckily older/more budget motherboards, just like our ASUS B450-F Gaming motherboard, let you install a BIOS update to allow Zen 3 compatibility.

You will need to make sure your B450 manufacturer supports this compatibility update first, if it does your B450 motherboard will need to update to the latest BIOS to support the new Zen 3 CPU, this will require an older CPU. Once updated all you need to do is swap out the CPU.

We are going to swap out our Ryzen 7 2700 for a Ryzen 5 5600X and also install an aftermarket Noctua NH-U12S cooler on our ASUS B450-F Gaming motherboard.
