Dota 2 The International Is Online Only

Dota 2’s The International 2021 will not have in-person attendance.

Valve has announced that the ticket sales for The International 2021 have been cancelled. Posting to the official Dota 2 website, Valve states they’ve decided to not have in-person attendance at the event. According to the statement, this is due to Covid rates and restrictions in host country Romania.

After careful evaluation of the situation in Romania and the new local restrictions in Bucharest, Valve has decided to close the event to the public. Valve states that all purchases tickets have been issued a full refund automatically.

Sadly, the ticket cancellation has come at short notice for some fans who had already booked travel to Bucharest in Romani. This is bad news for those who may not have time to cancel their pre-booked travel options.

The International 2021 will still be going ahead as scheduled starting from October 7th. Valve states that were looking forward to “welcoming he best Dota teams in the world” and that fans will be able to watch it online.
