Deep Silver has announced that Dead Island 2 is still in active development. It’s been long assumed to have been cancelled since it was announced around 8 years ago. The publisher has reached out to GamesRader+ (https://www.gamesradar.com/uk/dead-island-2-is-in-active-development/) to confirm the game is still coming.
Dead Island 2 has bounced around developers, starting with Dying Light developer Techland in 2014. It then moved to Yager when development for Dying Light 2 began however, Yager closed its doors in 2015. After this, Dead Island 2 was moved to Sumo Digital and then to Dambusters in 2019.
The development for Dead Island 2 has been extremely turbulent but Deep Silver insists the game is still coming. Known leaker Tom Henderson released a video report (https://youtu.be/99f8Frhl1B4) claiming Dead Island 2 is making good progress.
Rumours suggest Dead Island 2 could finally be released this year but Deep Silver hasn’t confirmed a release period yet.
